Gabriela specializes in patent prosecution and IP strategy to help her clients both grow their IP portfolios and protect their IP rights globally. She drafts patent applications for multijurisdictional prosecution, particularly in Europe and the US. As a US patent attorney, she files and prosecutes US patent applications directly and has experience supporting SMEs.
Additionally, Gabriela also conducts patentability, infringement, validity and freedom-to-operate analyses, as well as investor due diligence.
Gabriela has worked extensively in the medical devices, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals sector.
Before joining KIPA, Gabriela was a Senior Associate in the Life science group at a major IP law firm in Sweden, and a Patent Counsel/US Patent attorney at another IP Law firm in Sweden where she built a US patent practice group that directly filed and prosecuted a significant number of US patent applications.
Before moving to Sweden in 2014, Gabriela served as the Director of IP at three medical device start-ups in the Bay Area, California, and Patent Consultant at her own IP consulting company.
Gabriela holds a JD from Georgetown University Law Center and a BS in Microbiology from Ohio State University.
Additionally, she teaches US patent practice courses at IP Akademin and is a member of FICPI Sweden.
